The story takes place several years after the events of the first film. Maleficent (played by Angelina Jolie) and Prince Philip (played by James Marsden) are now married and living in peace. However, their happiness is short-lived, as a new threat emerges in the form of a neighboring kingdom ruled by King Stefan's brother, King Ludwig (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor).
