The Shawshank Redemption tells the story of Andy Dufresne (played by Tim Robbins), a successful banker who is wrongly convicted of murdering his wife and her lover. Andy is sentenced to life imprisonment at Shawshank State Penitentiary, where he befriends Ellis "Red" Redding (played by Morgan Freeman), a lifer who has lost hope. Despite the harsh realities of prison life, Andy never loses his determination and finds ways to survive and ultimately escape.
