The film takes place four years after the events of the first movie. A group of South Korean survivors, led by Sang-hwa (Park Hae-soo) and his brother, Da-song (Jung Hae-in), attempt to escape from the zombie-infested Busan Peninsula. They join a group of mercenaries, led by the ruthless and cunning Captain Bowman (played by Lee Byung-hun), who aim to retrieve a valuable treasure.
