Born on February 17, 1967, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Bhanupriya began her acting career at a young age. She made her debut in the 1984 Tamil film "Vaidegi," and soon transitioned to Telugu cinema with the 1985 film "Pranam." Her breakthrough performance came in 1987 with the film "Sankeertana," which earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress.
